Internationally recognised WordTheatre have been coming here from Los Angeles since 2010 to host their acclaimed Writers’ Retreat (www.wordtheatre.com ). Course leader and award-winning writer Andre Dubus III (author ‘House of Sand and Fog’) writes:-
“WordTheatre Workshop and Retreat is just that, a retreat into work, the kind we writers do, that descent into the dream world where our characters live and claim us with their stories. I have never taught anywhere ever before where the physical conditions of the retreat were as encouraging of this descent as Edale, England.”
2017 will see The Gathering host yoga retreats, some with a children’s forest school attached; ‘BootGlamps’; as well as health retreats.
We have 16 bedrooms which can sleep a total of 34 if all are shared. Some are under canvas, some under stone, but all with wonderful Hypnos beds and crisp cotton linen, organic cosmetics in the bathrooms and wood-burning stoves for warmth.
We have good relationships with local caterers and outdoor activity organisers or equally you are welcome to bring your own.
